2 weeks post op update

Wow this has been quite the process but I’m happy to say I made it through with flying colors this far and I’m pretty happy.

The surgery took a couple hours less than he had planned - he said it was like it was ready to come off! He also said he took off just under TEN POUNDS of skin which was more than we expected. I did not want to wake up and I was in EXTREME pain but they fixed that pretty quickly and was on my way home in no time.

They sent me home with 3 drains in which was terrible and I had to be careful that the tubing laying on my skin had to be moved every few hours. First two drains came out at my one week visit and then finally the last one this past Tuesday for my 2nd week checkup. I cannot thank my husband enough for monitoring and emptying them because that was gross as hell.

I spent my first few nights in my recliner which I’m very thankful for and the hardest thing was getting up to go to the bathroom and then using my new muscles to actually go to the bathroom was excruciating. But the worst part of that is over.

I’m happy to say I don’t have to go back for a month in which I’m hoping to be released to all things active again. I’m allowed to walk a mile but have been using that activity time to get some shopping/errands done and don’t want to overdo it because that’s really easy for me to do. Luckily my surgeon is a distance runner and totally gets it.

I’ve been absolutely amazed at the difference and I can’t believe I’m sharing this info publicly but here you go! There is still some swelling to get through but overall thrilled with it and so is my surgeon. I will keep updating here as things progress! Thanks so much for all the support.
